Friday Sketchers Challenge

First of all I have to tell you that I had a really good day out at The Dome at Doncaster yesterday. Well when I say "day" we arrived about 12 noon and me and my daughter, Claire, had a good look around the Craft Show whilst her husband, Steve, and Florence and my husband, David and his daughter, Lauren, went in the swimming baths. Apparently Florence was up and down the slides and really enjoyed herself.

One word of advice to anyone who is thinking of buying one of those tins of Prima Christmas flowers - don't bother. I paid £7.99 for mine and thought the tin would be full of flowers like they are when you buy the hydrangea tins. I was really disappointed when I opened it because it had some packaging in which took up half the tin so there was only half a tin's worth of flowers in it. I wouldn't mind but I could have paid £4.99 for one of the bubbles and I bet there would have been as many flowers in that.

After the Dome we went to the Lakeside and had a quick look in some of the shops before it was time to set off home.
We virtually went straight to pick up David's other two children and his grandson and we went out for a meal for Father's Day.
I was really glad to get home and have a coffee and a rest.
Here is a photo of Florence but I had a job to get it. Most of my photos of her are of the back, top or side of her head. She just will not look at me when I am taking photos.

Below is my card for the Friday Sketchers Challenge - hope you like it.

Sketch and Stash Challenge

First of all I would like to thank Julie for doing the Stampin Up party on Thursday.
I am sure she will agree that we had a good laugh - but I am not one to point the finger at anyone, so I won't. My lips are sealed!!!! But I can't wait to see Chris to see what he thought of the box we made!!

I have just been for a game of golf this afternoon. I started learning about 4 years ago but haven't had any lessons or anything and I hate trying to do that really silly pose that you are supposed to do, so I don't bother. I "played" for about two summers (don't do winters) before I was ill (2007) and haven't played since until Spring Bank this year.
We have had quite a few games since then and I just can't believe how much I have improved. I started out scoring 50 (on a 9 holer, can you believe) and when we went during the week I did much better and managed to score 58!!! Today I didn't do so good and I got 54.

Only joking!!! I know that you are supposed to get less really!

Anyway here is my card for Monday's Sketch and Stash Challenge.

Hope you like it - back soon with my next card.

Basic Grey Challenge

I think this is the first time I have taken part in this challenge and I do have quite a few Basic Grey papers so I thought I would give it a go.
The challenge was to use something Chocolatey so I have used a paper from the Sultry Pad which is a bit mint chocolate with the green and brown but it also has a hint of pink.

The Stamp is a Sugar Nellie Stamp (I think) from Funky Kits and I have coloured it using Pro Markers.
I will be back soon with another card.

Well I am back to blogging at last!!

"Our Kath" (my sister) called up yesterday and reminded me that I hadn't been blogging for a while, I was actually well aware of that fact but I just haven't had the time to do any blogging.

The reason is that I have been so obsessed with my computer for the last week or more.
For some reason, a few weeks ago, I suddenly started having problems with one thing after another - nearly every time I turned the computer on there was something else strange about it and it has really been doing my head in.

I seem to have been constantly ringing helplines and really all I get told is to take it back to factory settings and then reload everything again - so that is what I have done. It has been very stressful but I think I might have got it sorted now (fingers crossed)
Also last week both me and my husband had appointments at the hospital and I have had another one this week. Then the hospital rang my husband today to say that they have had a cancellation and does he want to go in on Monday for his hernia operation! So that means that I might be having him under my feet for a week or two, in which case I probably won't get much blogging or card making done (or anything else for that matter). I will be going mad!!!

Anyway I have managed to get a few cards done for Mother's Day and here they are.

I really like this rabbit stamp - it is from the Simon & Lola range of Sugar Nellie stamps available from Funky Kits

This is a stamp that I have used before, again from Funky Kits

and this of course is one of my favourite Magnolia Stamps, which I usually buy from Sir Stampalot.
Thank you for looking and I will try and get back with some more cards soon.

Yesterday I went to a workshop at Craftwork Cards run by the very talented Kirsty Wiseman
Below is one of the cards that we made. We also made a little gift bag, a three fold picture wallet and another card as well as the one below.

I just love the new silver and black papers from Craftwork Cards - they also do the same range in pink and brown.
When I got home I made the card below - and I was very surprised at just how quickly this one came together.

I haven't put a sentiment on it yet because I thought I might give it to my husband for Valentine's Day.
I was very pleased with it so I hope that you like it.
Thanks for looking.

Hi everyone, what a week this has been!!

On Monday my sister was taken to the A & E with a suspected heart attack but luckily it wasn't, and she came back home in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday we visited my mother in law who is hospital but is due to come home tomorrow.
Today my husband rang to say that his brother's wife had died - she was 61. Although she had suffered with asthma and bronchitis for a lot of years, she had been fine in the morning and was having a conversation with her husband and not long after that she could not breathe and died within 10 minutes of being admitted to hospital. I still can't believe it.
Let's hope there is nothing else bad to come.

Back to cards and below is the Mojo Monday sketch No. 61 which is quite a nice one I think.

I did two cards. The first one just using a snowman stamp that I had and Pink Petticoats paper. The darker card is Stampin Up Elegant Eggplant and so is the ribbon.

The second one is more or less the same except that I put the ribbon in a different place and forgot to put the 3 brads on the top of the picture. I was inspired by Dawny P. to use my Sugar Nellies snowman stamp and used my new Pro Markers to colour it. The sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.

Thank you for looking.
