Challenging!!!

Hi

It is not such a nice day today here in Yorkshire, it keeps raining and is really quite cold - I have just turned the heating up a bit!

I have a card for you today that is a little bit different.
I saw the idea over on Monica's blog and thought I would have to have a go at it.
It is a twisted easel card.

Being a bit senile as I am, I ended up sticking it on the wrong way round and had to prize it off again as I had already made the maid part of the card ready to stick on to the easel bit - if you follow me!

Unfortunately I then ran out of ink on my printer and haven't been able to get to the shop for another so, being in a rush to enter my card in the Just Magnolia Challenge, I have photographed it as it is without sticking the sentiment part onto the bottom half of the card - this is getting quite hard to explain but I am sure you will understand.

Here is the Just Magnolia Sketch

and here is the main bit of my card

and this is the rest of it...

I know it does not look anything special just left like that but at least you get the gist of what it is supposed to look like.
I think I need a cuppa now!!!
Thank you for looking.

Papertake Weekly Challenge.

Well it is nearly the weekend - perhaps we might manage a game of rugby tomorrow. It has been called off that many times since before Christmas that I think we have only had about one game in two months.

I'm back again with another card but using the same papers from Stampin Up as the last card - I love them!!

This is the sketch for the Papertake Weekly Challenge

and here is my card.

sorry if the photo looks a bit dark - perhaps someone could recommend a tutorial for the photographs. I notice some blogs seem to have really good photos.
That's all for now.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Luv Eileen x

Anything goes..

Just a very quick post today to show you my card for the Just Magnolia Challenge - which was anything goes.
You could also add pearls but I forgot about that until it was too late.
So here is the card.

I bought these cards perhaps a year ago from Whichcraft at Doncaster but I wish they had been pre-scored as I didn't do too good a job of getting it straight.
Thank you to everyone for all your lovely comments.

Crafts 4 Eternity Challenge

I don't know why I always seem to be last minute with my challenges - but here I am on the last day to post my card for the Crafts4Eternity Challenge. The Challenge is to include a Christmas Tree.

Now the greeny coloured paper that I used is by Bo Bunny and it did actually have Christmas Trees on - but of course you can't see them because they are covered up!!
Anyway Tilda does have a Christmas Tree so there you are...
The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I have been playing about with my photos trying out different things with them - the trouble is it is so time consuming.

I have been to have a look at a new camera today for taking my rugby pictures - I have had one published each week in our local weekly since the season started.
Haven't got the camera yet but it could be any idea for Christmas!!!
Thank you for looking.

Sketch Saturday Challenge

Hi,
Just a very quick post today to show you the card I have made for the Sketch Saturday Challenge.

I printed off the sketch and thought it looked quite a good one to do so made my card but was a bit disappointed with it. I was even more disappointed when I went back to the website and looked at the sketch properly and discovered that I should have used two lots of paper for the background. What is the matter with me?? It must be the thought of Christmas coming up so fast.

Last year it took me forever to make my cards so I thought that this year I would start early - and have I? No!
The stamp is a new one that I have just got and I have used my new Martha Stewart Punch and threaded ribbon through it.
Hope you like it more than I do!!
Have a lovely weekend. We have rugby tomorrow and then I hope my hubby is taking me off on Sunday seeing as we have a day to ourselves.

A senile moment - again!!

Happy Monday everyone.
The weather today has been beautiful although the car was totally frozen up this morning.

Had a good time at The Dome yesterday and bought one or two things - a Martha Stewart Snowflake stamp, some ink pads, some DP and a few other bits and bobs. Afterwards we went shopping at The Lakeside and I bought a bun tray with square holes instead of round - can't wait to make Yorkshire Puddings in it to see what they look like!! Very sad - that's me!!

Back to cardmaking and here is my card for the Pear Tree Designs Challenge

which is to make a card for a celebration. Well that is what is said when I opened the Website. Unfortunately when I came to link up to the Challenge it said that it was closed - the challenge I had looked at was from September!!! I think it's time I went and had a rest. I might as well leave my card on though for you to have a look at.

I thought I would use this card which I made the other week (but hadn't put it on my blog ) for a friends Golden Wedding. It is very similar to one that I had made before but in silver.
I am feeling rather frustrated at the moment because I have been trying to put our Rugby Team on Facebook - anyway I think I have managed it at last. The photos took ages to upload.
Enjoy the rest of the evening.

By one - get one free

Hi
Today I have one card and two challenges - hence the title.
The first challenge is the Secret Crafter and it has a theme as the challenge - and that is ORENTAL - so I have used the Chinese Tilda.
The other challenge is the Papertake Weekly Challenge which is a sketch.

I have used so papers from Stampin Up that I have had for a while so I don't know if they are still available or not - but I thought they were quite oriental as well.

I have coloured the image with my Copics and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The sentiment is computer generated.

thank you for taking time to look and thank you to my new followers for deciding to follow my blog.

Thank you

Tilda meets Ribbon Girl

Santa's little helper! That is the stamp that I have used for today's card and I have coloured her with Copics.
Here is the full card.

I have used the sketch by Dawny P for this week's Just Magnolia Challenge

and combined it with the theme from The Ribbon Girl Challenge, which was to use Red and Green.
The papers are my new Christmas ones from Stampin Up which I got from Julie last week and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, as usual.

thank you for looking

Papertake Weekly Challenge and ABC Challenge

Tilda with Christmas Tree...

This weeks Papertake Challenge is "3 of something".
Fortunately I had "one I made earlier" that I could use for this challenge. It has 3 different Magnolia papers on it - I bought them last year and really like them but don't seem to be able to get hold of them this year.
The Challenge at ABC Challenge is to use lots of flowers - so here they are....

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and I usually glitter them but didn't bother this time.
And here is the full card......
The lace is some that I got from our local branch of Boyes and I have coloured the image with Copic Markers.

I have just been to visit my mother's cousin this morning - she is 78 today and I just can't believe her.

For one thing she has been in the Red Cross for 50 years and still goes on duty for them sometimes at special events where she has to be up really early in the morning.
She has recently lost two stones in weight not only by dieting but by going to the gym!!
She also wanted me to have a look at her laptop (yes she can work the computer as well) and she has just bought a digital camera that does movies - ready for when she goes to Prague next March. She is going there with her nephew to show him where her brother got killed during the war.

One of her favourite things is playing on her Nintendo DS, and she has a mobile phone - all this at 78 years old, isn't that brilliant??
That's all for today, thank you for looking.

Sketch Saturday

Only a quick post today to show you my card for the Sketch Saturday challenge - which was a sketch.
Here is the sketch

and here is my interpretation of the sketch.
The papers are pink petticoat and the flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.
Before I go I must tell you that I am aching a bit today because, with it being a nice day yesterday, I decided to rotavate (don't know if that is spelt right) my veg plot. It is easier than digging but by the time I had finished it at tea time I had blisters and white finger syndrome (is that what they call it when you have been using power tools?) Anyway I did enjoy it and managed to get my winter onions in as well so it was a very productive day.
thank you for looking.

Basic Grey Challenge

I have just about given myself a headache today messing about with Photoshop Elements trying to improve my photos but in the end I have just had to do my usual thing.
If anyone can help me out with improving them I would be glad to hear from you.

The Basic Grey Challenge this week is "Sparkle" so here is my card - with Sparkle on Santa's Helpers hat.

The red background paper is from the Eskimo Kisses range and the other paper is from the Wassail Collection.
Thank you for looking - enjoy what is left of the evening.

Just Magnolia Challenge

How strange it was today.
I was at my local craft shop and Liz who works there came across to talk to me and another woman. The other woman asked if I was Eileen and I said Yes.
She said she was Diane from Pink Sunflower - we follow each other's blogs!! I couldn't believe it and I couldn't believe that she recognised me either - because I hadn't recognised her. It was lovely to actually meet her especially as she lives in the same town as me.
Just in with this one by the skin of my teeth - that's a bit of a silly saying really isn't it because teeth don't have skin??
Here is my card for the Just Magnolia challenge but it has been a rush and I am not sure what I think of it.
In fact I have made a few cards this week that I have liked as I have been going along but when I have finished them I am not so keen on them.

I bought the stamp a couple of years ago (I think) but never really liked colouring it. The Poinsettia was done in a rush and it is from a Marianne Die which I got last week at the Craft Box at Hoyland.
The papers are downloads which I really like and I think I will be using them quite a bit. I have already got two other cards lined up with them.
Have to dash now.
Making meat & potato pie for tea.

Just Magnolia Challenge

I know there probably won't be as many sad people as me about - blogging on a Saturday evening - but I have just been uploading the photos from our rugby game this afternoon so I thought I might as well show you the card I have made for the Just Magnolia Challenge.

I made this for a Challenge which was Unconventional Christmas and thought I would combine it with Dawny's sketch but when I checked which Challenge the Unconventional Christmas was I found it was Lili of the Valley so I could not use this card with Tilda on. That is so typical of me - totally unorganised.
Hope you are all having a good weekend - I will get back to washing the rugby kit now!!!!

Ovarian Cancer challenge

What an awful week I am having this week.

First of all I had something arranged for every day this week - which I don't really like to have.
Our appointment yesterday was cancelled then today my daughter was going to come up but she was not so well so I really missed seeing my granddaughter.
Tomorrow I am going for a pedicure, Thursday I was supposed to get my hair cut but I have had to cancel that because we have to go to yet another funeral - what is happening to everyone! Three out of four of the people who have died have died from that awful "C" word!!!

Anyway it is my husband's birthday on Thursday and it has been a nightmare making his card. I had ideas what I wanted to do but none of them turned out right and I have ended up making an easel card - which I will show you tomorrow.

Today's card is for Ovarian Cancer Fundraising. My sister sent me a link to a blog called "I can't draw but I can do this" and I am entering the card below. Please take a look over there - I know it is a bit late to enter but as I have said before there is always a lot of talk about Breast Cancer but not about Ovarian Cancer.
I was very lucky that mine was detected early and if it had not have been for the Ovarian Cyst pressing on my bladder I probably wouldn't have found out about it!!

Thank you for looking

Saturday Secret Crafter

Back Again with just a quickie post.
Here is my card for the Saturday Secret Crafter challenge.

I can't decide whether I like this one or not and I think perhaps I should have put the flowers somewhere else instead of with the sentiment.
The papers are from Basic Grey.
Hope you like it

Stamp with Fun Challenge

Hi everyone.
I have had a good day today at the Craft show at Harrogate. Bought quite a few goodies - mainly paper, stamps and punches. I will just have to find time to try them out now.

Here is my card for the Stamp with Fun Challenge which has a bridal theme.
I just saw the heading "Bridal/Wedding" and thought that would give me the opportunity to try out my Magnolia Wedding stamps. I wish I had looked at the DT cards first because the last one there is quite similar to mine - in some ways. Have you ever noticed that? I once did a card and about a month later I opened a magazine and found one almost identical to mine.
I asked my husband if he liked my card, and after looking at it for about 5 minutes he said "not really - her dress is a bit plain isn't it?" Men!! I didn't actually design the stamp!!!
Anyway here is my card.
I hope you like it and I hope you have all had a lovely weekend.
I am going to chill out now after my very busy day.

Just Magnolia Challenge

Just another very quick post today. I am feeling a bit better than yesterday but I am very, very tired.
We are going to my ex-father-in-law's funeral in about an hours time so I have just enough time to show you this card for the Just Magnolia Challenge.

Hope you like it.

Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge

The briefest of blogs today just to show you my card.
The theme for the Secret Crafter is Strawberries & Cream.
I was positive I had a magnolia stamp with a strawberry but could not find it anywhere - until I had finished the card. However the ice cream does have a strawberry on it.
have to dash - going to see my Grandaughter tomorrow.

Create4Fun Challenge

What a horrid day today.
I didn't get much sleep last night because my husband snores so loud that I am sure you can all hear him!!

I went for a walk this morning and it started raining. I was going to go out but then I couldn't be bothered.
Anyway I have been creative and made a card for the Create4Fun Challenge, which was a sketch.

I was rather pleased with the card till I realized that I had ommited to put a strip at the bottom, so I had to stick some ribbon on - but then I wasn't sure just where to put the bow. Anyway it doesn't look too bad does it?

Me and our Kath are off over to Julies Stampin Up open day tomorrow, so I am really looking forward to that. See you soon, Julie.
that's all for today,
back soon.

Just Magnolia Challenge

Hi Everyone,
My next door neighbour works at the fire station and she says that they were all sent an email today saying that there was a severe weather warning for 12 o'clock tonight - so we will see whether or not we wake up to snow tomorrow morning.

I have been at my sister's today trying to help her to set up a blog - I don't think she has written anything much on it yet but I will give you the link and perhaps you might like to keep checking back.
It is called Plain & Simple

Here is my entry for the Just Magnolia Challenge - I must say there are some gorgeous cards on there.

That is all for tonight.
Thank you for looking
