Simon Says Challenge and Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge

Hi everyone - I hope you have had a lovely weekend.

We had a very much "rugby" weekend. We had our amateur game on the Saturday - my husband did not play but my son did.

On Sunday we travelled to Warrington to watch the Grand Final. We watched two games. The first one was Keighley Cougars against Oldham. I used to be a very staunch supporter of Keighley but have fallen by the wayside although my son, Richard, still goes. They were playing in a final for promotion and won by 2 points. At the end some of the fans ran on the pitch and Richard ran on but fell over the barrier (how embarassing!!!) and then it showed him on the tele congratulating some of the players.
The second match was our local team, Halifax, playing for the Championship against Barrow, and they lost. We had actually gone on one of the Halifax coaches so there was a lot of disappointed people. Years and years ago when my husband was in his twenties he had trials with Halifax but his eyesight let him down on the 3rd game and they did not sign him. Barrow offered him a game and he played one game for them but it was too far to travel so stuck to amateur rugby after that.

Back to card making. I made this card for the Whiff of Joy challenge and then realised that I had used a Magnolia Stamp - it must be my age!! I have decided now that I can enter it in the
Simon Says Challenge, which is to use Red and Green, and also in the Spoonful of Sugar
Challenge for which the theme is Christmas.

Friday Sketchers Challenge

I have been quite busy today but I did find time to finish yet another card that I had started and not finished
Here is my card for the Friday Sketchers Challenge

The stamp is (quite obviously) Sarah Kay, I have used Prima flowers and the paper is, I think, by Bo Bunny.
Tomorrow morning I will be going on my camera class again so I hope it is better than the last two weeks!!
bye for now.

Sketch and Stash Challenge.

Well I am back from this morning's photography class. Another waste of time. Why is it that I book these classes only to be disappointed? It was supposed to be about getting more out of your camera but all we did was mess about on the computer.
I walked down there and then went to Tesco and walked back - the journey back took me nearly an hour and a half. My feet hurt that much I could have cried. I was so relieved to get home. I didn't get any sympathy from my husband he just said that I was soft and it served me right for walking back. I don't know what is the matter with my feet but sometimes they are very painful. I suppose it is old age!!!

Never mind. On to my card which is for the Sketch and Stash Challenge

I have used my new stamp from Funky Kits and the paper is by Basic Grey.
I am going to give the card to my husband's niece - it is her birthday on the 19th, the day after Andrew's birthday (Andrew is her dad).
Next week is my husbands birthday so I will have to get cracking with that.
must dash, lots to do.

Just Christmas and Birthday Challenge

Good Morning everyone - just a quickie before I dash to get ready to go to Harrogate. No I am not a week early for the Craft Show, I am going to the Patchwork & something show. I have been meaning to check to see when it was on because I really fancied going - but of course I never got round to it. On Friday I saw a coach of ladies setting off and someone said they were going to the Patchwork Show at Harrogate. So I have just been getting the sandwiches ready and we will be off soon. I am looking for a really nice cross stitch to do.

Anyway here is my card for the Just Christmas and Birthday Challenge.

The papers are from Kay and Co.
hope you like it.

Crafts 4 Eternity Challenge

Ooh! I am dashing about today.
Started this card yesterday but then ran out of the deep red card and had to wait until I got some more today - luckily they had some in stock.
I am just rushing to put this on - I thought it had to be in by tomorrow but it is actually Sunday, I think - and then I have to do a bit of my big pile of ironing before making the tea.
Here is my card then for the Crafts 4 Eternity Challenge.

On the challenge it did say to use "buttons" but I have actually only used one.
The papers are digital ones, the stamp is a Gorjuss Girl one from Funky Kits, the ribbon is from Stampin Up and of course Prima flowers.
Hope you like the card and that you all have a lovely weekend.
We have got our first rugby match on Saturday so I will be doing the photos for that. I hope my camera works this time because when we had a friendly the other week my camera only lasted 20 minutes then went off. I think it was the batteries so I have bought some new rechargeable ones for it.

Papertake Weekly Challenge

Back again - just briefly.
What a strange day it has been weatherwise - pouring down then sunny then raining again.

I decided to do a card for the Papertake Weekly Challenge last night and I just could not find the right combination - so I am back with my favourite My Mind's Eye paper.
So here is my card.
I have used one of the summer 2009 Tilda stamps but this morning I received my Autumn 2009 stamps and I can't wait to try them out - but I will have to because I probably won't get chance over the weekend.
Hope you like the card.
Have a lovely Bank Holiday everyone.

Sketch Saturday Challenge

Hi there, I hope you have all had a good weekend.

We had rugby on Saturday and on Sunday we went out for Sunday lunch with an older couple, Merv & June, who are distantly related to my husband. Merv's aunty came, who is 74, and sat across from me at the table. She had about 2 mouthfuls of her meal and then nearly choked. I thought my husband was going to have to do a Mrs. Doubtfire and do that crunch hug thing to dislodge it but he didn't. It did rather put me off my meal though!!

I don't know what has happened to me but I have tried making cards for various challenges and I just don't seem to be able to even pick paper that matches.
Anyway I had a go at the Sketch Saturday Challenge and here is my card.

I can't say that I am totally satisfied with it really but I am going to use it for my next door neighbour's birthday.

Thursday, 23 July 2009

I just thought I would show you my lovely white flowers from the front garden. They have been really nice this year and have looked so white and clean. Unfortunately they are now starting to die off.

Tuesday was my daughter Claire's birthday so I went down to see her and we all went shopping. Unfortunately Florence had a bit of a cough and wasn't just up to the mark so she wasn't all over Grandma like she usually is.

Today Claire rang to say that whilst they were away last night poor Florence had fallen and cut her forehead. They took her to hospital and she had it steri stripped but today she had to see the Plastic Surgeon who has stitched it under anaesthetic. Poor Baby!!
Here is the Birthday Card that I made for Claire - sorry Julie I have pinched your idea!!!
It is a Trifold one - above is the front and below is the inside

Stamp with Fun Challenge

Rush, Rush, Rush!!
That is what today has been like - I have had so many things to do but keep getting side-tracked. I have just about finished my packing and got cleaned up (apart from my craft room) so I am going to post these two cards for you to look at and then hopefully we might get an early night. Richard will be back about 1.30am and we are leaving at 4.30am (did you know such a time existed???) - at least I might get some sleep on the plane.

My first card is for the Stamp with Fun challenge and here it is:-

I have used Stampin Up papers and Copic Markers.

My second card is for the Paper Makeup Stamp Challenge but I have just realized that I haven't used one of their stamps.

As you can see, I have used the same Whiff of Joy Stamp but the papers are from Basic Grey.
Sorry I will have to dash now - I will be back blogging in just over a week so please pop back and hopefully I will have some more cards for you.
Thank you for looking.

Challenges

What an absolutely gorgeous day it is today - the sun is shining and it is so hot.
I went for a walk early this morning and then spent the rest of the morning in the garden.
Last week I planted 6 lettuce in a grow bag in the greenhouse and 3 of them have been eaten by snails!! Horrible things.

I thought that this card would do for 2 challenges - the Friday Sketchers and Stamp Something.
Actually Friday 17th April would have been my Aunty Lily's birthday (bet you didn't remember that Kath!) and the 19th of April was my sister-in-law's 50th Birthday (but I know she won't be looking at my blog so there was no point in wishing her Happy 50th)

I rather like the blue, yellow & green - what do you think?
On Saturday my sister and I are going for a card class with Julie so we are both looking forward to that - see what we can learn.

Basic Grey Challenge

I think this is the first time I have taken part in this challenge and I do have quite a few Basic Grey papers so I thought I would give it a go.
The challenge was to use something Chocolatey so I have used a paper from the Sultry Pad which is a bit mint chocolate with the green and brown but it also has a hint of pink.

The Stamp is a Sugar Nellie Stamp (I think) from Funky Kits and I have coloured it using Pro Markers.
I will be back soon with another card.
