Papertake Weekly Challenge

Back again - just briefly.
What a strange day it has been weatherwise - pouring down then sunny then raining again.

I decided to do a card for the Papertake Weekly Challenge last night and I just could not find the right combination - so I am back with my favourite My Mind's Eye paper.
So here is my card.
I have used one of the summer 2009 Tilda stamps but this morning I received my Autumn 2009 stamps and I can't wait to try them out - but I will have to because I probably won't get chance over the weekend.
Hope you like the card.
Have a lovely Bank Holiday everyone.

Just Magnolia Challenge

Hello everyone - I am just back from my walk and enjoying a cuppa whilst I do my blogging.

I went down to see Florence yesterday for her Birthday but I cannot show you the card I made her, because guess what - I forgot to take a photo of it!!
I had a brilliant day with Florence yesterday, she is so cute and comical. Here is a photo of her opening her present - a blackboard from Uncle Richard - she loved it.
We went out for lunch and here is a photo of her enjoying an ice cream.

Down to business and here is my card for the Just Magnolia challenge

I thought I would also just show you two photos of my grand-nephews.
The first one is Austin who has fallen asleep in his baby bouncer
and the second one is Austin with his older brother Ethan. Ethan is 4 and starts school next week but I don't think he is looking forward to it.
Thank you for looking and I hope you like the photos.

Whiff of Joy Challenge

I don't know why I always seem to be last minute at everything lately.
I only just dashed out today to buy my Grandaughter's birthday present for tomorrow.
I will be off to Retford to see Florence and on Thursday I will show you the card that I have made for her.

Meanwhile here is my card for the Whiff of Joy Challenge - only just in time.
I have used one of the new stamps from the Fall Collection and coloured it with my Copics.
The paper and the sentiment are from Craftwork Cards.

thank you for looking and I really do appreciate any comments you might like to leave me.

Sketch and Stash Challenge

Good Morning everyone.

I got up early-ish this morning because we thought if it was nice we would go for a game of golf and try the big course - I have only ever done the 9-holer. My husband rang up to book and we couldn't get on till nearly dinner time so we had to book the 9-holer and couldn't get on there until nearly 9.00am.
So I thought I have just time to show you my card I made for the Sketch and Stash Challenge and here it is.

I really like this card and wondered about using it for my son-in-law's birthday (although it is a bit childish) because it reminded me of him taking Florence out on the bike - she loves it!
Florence will be 2 on Wednesday so I will be having a trip down to see her - they have just got back from their holiday in Turkey. She told me they had been to Turkey - plane - sky.
back soon - thank you for looking and for leaving comments.

Cute Card Thursday Challenge

Looks like I was too late for the Friday Stamp Something Challenge which was something from Summer Vacations - I thought I would do a card of me on my jollies. Do you like it. I love these stamps.
I must have got my Challenges mixed up because I also did this card for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge which is Lazy Days inspired by summer.
A lot of the challenges seem to be the same don't they. One week one will have a Summer theme and the next week another will have the same theme.
Anyway thanks for looking

Happy Birthday to You - Richard, Jude & John

Ooh I have just got wet through fetching my washing in!
I went for a walk this morning and thought what a gorgeous day it was - sunny, blue skies, warm but with a nice breeze, then in the middle of watching last night's Coronation Street the heavens opened and I had to dash out to rescue my washing.
Today is Richard, Jude and John's birthday, so happy birthday to all of them. Our Richard will be at the "V" festival now so I hope it is not pouring down there.
Here is the card I made for his birthday.
Unfortunately I made a mistake - can you believe that I got the "N" upside down? So I had to do another "N" which I had to do in the blue instead of the red colour. Anyway he was pleased with the card and the poem that I made up.
back soon with a challenge card.

Just Christmas and Birthday Cards Challenge

Back again with another card.
I am not doing so bad now at getting down to making some cards.
This one is for my brother-in-law, John, whose birthday is on Friday 21st August and I thought I would tie it in with this particular challenge.

I used a Whiff of Joy Stamp and coloured it with Copics.
The paper is from Basic Grey - Boxer,
thanks for looking.

Sketch Saturday Challenge

Hi there, I hope you have all had a good weekend.

We had rugby on Saturday and on Sunday we went out for Sunday lunch with an older couple, Merv & June, who are distantly related to my husband. Merv's aunty came, who is 74, and sat across from me at the table. She had about 2 mouthfuls of her meal and then nearly choked. I thought my husband was going to have to do a Mrs. Doubtfire and do that crunch hug thing to dislodge it but he didn't. It did rather put me off my meal though!!

I don't know what has happened to me but I have tried making cards for various challenges and I just don't seem to be able to even pick paper that matches.
Anyway I had a go at the Sketch Saturday Challenge and here is my card.

I can't say that I am totally satisfied with it really but I am going to use it for my next door neighbour's birthday.

My Birthday

I had never thought about it until our Kath mentioned it yesterday, but I haven't shown you the hand made cards I received for my birthday. Unlike Julie Hickey, who received loads, I only received 4 hand made ones.
The first one is from my husband's ex-wife (who copies everything I do. I know it is supposed to be a form of flattery but it is very annoying!!)

The second one is from my daughter Claire.

The third one is from my sister Kath - the ribbon is attached to a little tag that pulls out.
and I am sorry but I have saved the best till last - and that is from my Grand-daughter Florence who will be 2 later this month.
Here is her card
and here is a photo of her looking very pleased with herself when she had made it.

A couple of weeks ago Claire, Steve & Florence had been on holiday and Florence fell and banged her head - hence the stitches you can see on the photo.
She is such a cutie.
Thank you for looking and I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Sketch and Stash Challenge

Oooh! Back again already - I am doing well aren't I? Especially as I have been in the garden most of the day.
I have made this card for the Sketch and Stash Challenge and I cannot honestly say that the stamp I have used is totally brand new but I have only used it once before (I think).
The paper is from Stampin Up and I used Copics for the colouring.

Hope you like it and thank you for looking.
I will crack on now and do some more.

Whiff of Joy Challenge

You know what it is like when you get back from holiday and you are itching to make a card but feel you have to get all the washing, ironing & cleaning done first. Well I have now done all those jobs and at last I have made a card.

It is for the Whiff of Joy Challenge - which this week is to use pink and brown, which I have.
The paper is Basic Grey and of course a Whiff of Joy image, which I have coloured with Copics.

Believe it or not it has taken me several attempts to get my photo to show up on Blogger, I don't know why. Anyway here it is.
I have made this card for my niece, Judith (or Jude as she now likes to be called), who is living in Australia. I won't say "G'day mate" or whatever it is, but if you happen to look at my blog "Happy Birthday Jude" for the 21st August. The 21st is a very busy day for birthdays - it is my son, Richard's birthday, Jude's and my brother-in-law John's birthday.
Monday the 17th is my next door neighbours 70th birthday - she doesn't look a day over 60.
Then later this month is my Grand-daughter, Florence's birthday and my son-in-law Steve's birthday. So I think I had better get cracking and get some cards made - never mind sat here waffling on.
back soon, thanks for looking.

Hello everyone - I just got back late last night from the beautiful Island of Sal, in Cape Verde.
We have had a fantastic holiday - it has been so hot, apparently humidity one day was 80%, I don't know if that is right or not.

Obviously I haven't had time to make any cards but I thought I would share a few photos with you.
Below is a photo of me stood on the patio of our new apartment (we went over to sign up for it, so we haven't stayed in it yet) It is second line and the beach is actually much nearer than it looks in the photo.
The one below is me just outside our apartment
The blue building in the background of this photo is where the locals go to fetch their water, which they use for cleaning etc. They fill big cartons of it and some of them take it back home in wheelbarrows whilst others just have to carry it - can you imagine having to do that? We really do not know how lucky and well off we are!!
Cape Verde is a lovely place but very primitive, if that is the right word. I think the highlight of Saturday afternoon for the local children must have been rolling themselves in the sand until they were covered and then jumping/diving off the "pier"
Above is a photo of a local we met called Chico. (He is the one on the right, the one on the left is my husband!!!!) Some people told us that the workers there earn 2 Euros an hour and someone else told us that a typical wage would be 250 Euros a MONTH. Things were not cheap there either - we had a Magnum (ice cream) each and it was 7 Euros for two.

Do not look too closely or you might just spot me walking along this fabulous beach. We went in the sea quite a few times and it was lovely and warm with some really nice big waves.

As we left the hotel to head back for the airport, the rep said that it usually takes about 15 minutes to get to the airport but it was rush hour - so you could expect at least 3 cars on the road!!! She wasn't joking either.
I will be back as soon as I have got rid of all the washing and ironing etc and got round to making some cards.
