Free Kit!!

Well I just knew there had to be a positive side to being 60.

I can't draw my pension yet and I can't have my bus pass yet - but heyhoe I have today received my free kit.

To those of you who have turned 60 you will know what I am talking about, but the youngsters amongst you won't have any idea what I am babbling on about.

But yes today my kit arrived in the post and it is not a card crafting kit I am on about - no my bowel cancer screening kit. So there you are, what else could a girl wish for when she reaches 60??

Joking aside I am really glad to actually reach that age. I thought life began at 40 but someone told me that 60 is the new 40 - yeh right! I have to say though that these last few weeks have been so hectic that I have hardly had time for crafting.

I have made a couple of family cards though and I will post them when I find a challenge that fits in with them.

Have to go and finish my ironing now.

I'm in the Top 3....

....but I still have to keep going back just to check that I have got it right!!!

Just a very quick post to say that I have just been flicking through some challenge blogs and when I was looking at Sketch & Stash I thought "mmm! that card looks familiar" and when I looked again it was mine - in the top 3! Well that is a lovely birthday present.

Thank you very much to Sketch & Stash for picking mine.

Basic Grey Challenge

Good evening everyone,

Hasn't the weather been close these last few days? We had quite a downpour earlier today but not for very long.

I have had my daughter and grand-daughter here today so that has been lovely - if not a bit tiring!

Well the day is getting closer - Friday 5th August!!!

That is my birthday and this year is quite a milestone - I will be 60. I really can't believe it because most of the time I just don't feel any different than I did at 21.

I will be having a little get together on Saturday with my family and a few of my husband's family. My niece will arrive on Saturday from Australia. She came over last summer but actually went back on my birthday.

I doubt I shall get much chance this week for making cards so here is a card I made at the end of last week but have only just taken a photo of.

I made it following the sketch from the Basic Grey Challenge.

Here is the sketch

and here is the card.

I think the papers are from the Wisteria pad and of course the image is from LOTV. I love the colours.

I am also entering it in this week's Papertake Challenge - which is anything goes

Allsorts Challenge - free and easy

and Totally Papercrafts which is bling it up

Tomorrow will be my Son and Daughter-in-Law's Wedding Anniversary - I hope it does not turn out to be a sad day for them because there oldest cat is very seriously ill and we just don't know how long she will last. Poor little George.

My daughter-in-Law had George before she met my Son and then they got adopted my a black cat called Mog and unfortunately she died just before Christmas last year.

When they moved house about 6 years ago they got adopted by a kitten who they named Scamp and it looks like she will be the only one left shortly.

Hope I haven't depressed any cat lovers - enjoy the rest of the evening.

At long last...

.....I have got round to making a card!!!
It seems forever since I had chance to go into my room and do something that I want to do.

We just seem to have been so busy with one thing and another - don't really know what!!

I have been busy though picking bilberries and making lots of bilberry pies which - I know I shouldn't say myself - were absolutely gorgeous!

Anyway I have made a card which I am entering in various challenges.

Here is the card:-

I am entering it in

Lili of the Valley Challenge - Fun & Games

Cute Card Thursday - For his eyes only

Allsorts Challenge - Free & Easy

Totally Papercrafts - One for the Boys

Totally Gorjuss - Punch or a Die
The Papers are from Stampin Up.

Thank you for looking and thank you to the new followers for following me.

Just in Time

What a wet evening it is today.

We were sat having our tea with the kitchen door open and it was absolutely bucketing it down outside. It reminds me of holidays in Scarborough!

Well I have a card for you tonight which will just about meet the deadline for the

Lili of the Valley Challenge - which is Pink & Blue.

I have used the sketch from this week's Sketch & Stash and I have used my new First Edition Up and Away papers.

I am also entering it in the Papertake Weekly Challenge - which is "Getting Cute" and I think this LOTV stamp is very cute indeed.

The theme in this week's Cute Card Thursday is "Circles" and I have two of them so I am entering it in that Challenge as well.
I went to the Craft Fair at Doncaster Racecourse on Sunday and thought it was really good - I wish I had more time to look round but we were going on to my daughter's at Retford afterwards.
We had to play at schools and my grandaughter was the teacher - it was very funny!!!

I have been pretty busy this week with appointments - the Osteopath on Tuesday, the Dentist today and the Hygienist on Friday. I have to say that I was very pleased when I went to the Dentist today because he said my mouth looked better than it has done for a while - that was really good news for me.

A few years ago I had to have a lot of treatment done - one 1/2 hour appointment each week for a year - due to going to, what turned out to be, a very bad dentist for about 10 years or more - but I won't bore you with all that.

Enjoy your evening

Hot Pink!

Well Hello, here I am at last with a card that I started sometime last week.

I have used the sketch from the Create4Fun Challenge

and I have used the theme from the Colour Create Challenge - which was Fuschia, Green & White

I am also entering it in the Papertake Weekly Challenge because the theme over there is Hot, Hot, Hot - and I think the pink is a pretty hot colour, don't you.
The papers I have used are from Pink Petticoat and the stamp is LOTV.

I have just been so busy this last week or so. Firstly, the Insurance people have wrote the car off so we have been busy looking for another one and actually got it last Friday.

Then we have spent most of the weekend looking round Nursing Homes for David's relative, Rene. The home she is in at the moment has not come up to scratch and the nursing part is being closed down so we have to find somewhere else for her. We have decided between two and left the final decision to her nephew in Canada.

Today my little grand-daughter, Florence, has been up so it has been quite hectic.

Hope you have all had a good weekend - I really will get round to looking at all your blogs!

My favourite colours - at the moment

What a funny day it has been today - the sun is shining now but we have had quite a few showers.

Still no further with my car and I am not right happy with the insurance people.

Anyway I have managed to build up enough enthusiasm to make a card for the Sketch Saturday Challenge.

Here is the sketch-

and here is my card.

The papers are from Nitwits - I just love these colours.

I am also entering this in the Just Magnolia Challenge - which is "Anything Goes" and also in the Allsorts Challenge - which is "Free and Easy"
Thank you for looking - I will have to go and make the tea now. I have made some wedges from the potatoes that I dug up yesterday so I am looking forward to those. We are also having home grown lettuce, radish and spring onions.

Mind you I think by the time I have done I could probably have bought them cheaper!!

C'est la vie!

Meri's Christening

Hi,

Just had to share a couple of photos with you today.
The first one is of my son and daughter-in-law and my little Granddaughter, Meriel, who was one yesterday and got Christened today.

It was very strange because I was going to wear that dress last night but wore a different one instead, so I wore that one today (obviously!!)

Meri's dress was very similar to mine and she had a little pink cardi to match as well. What a coincidence.

The second photo is of my daughter and my other Granddaughter, Florence. I am so lucky to have such lovely little grandchildren.

It was a lovely day and everything went very well.

Further news about my car.

We had a visit from the C.I.D. who were investigating a robbery at Heckmondwike Co-op and apparently my car was used as the getaway car.

Busy Weekend!

Hi Everyone,

It is quite a nice day here again - it has been a good week really, weatherwise.

As you will see from the title, we have a busy weekend.

Tonight we have a rugby Presentation Night - and it is also my Granddaughter's Birthday today, she is one.

Tomorrow we travel to Newark for her Christening.

Here is the card I have made for her.

I thought I would enter it in this week's LOTV Challenge - which is Celebration.
Have to dash

Thank you for looking

Wowee!

Well at last I have had a bit of good luck - I have won last weeks Lili of the Valley Challenge. Thank you - I know it was the random thingy but it is still nice to win something and I am looking forward to choosing some of their new stamps.

Just to update you on my car - it was found the same day but it has damage to the ignition and a bump on the boot. Given the fact that it is 20 year old I do not think I will get it back - the insurance company keep talking like it will be a write off. Thank you to everyone who left me a comment about the car - it was really uplifting.

The other week I talked about my husband's relative, Rene, who is in a home with dementia. Today when the local evening paper arrived there was a picture of the home on the front and bit headlines about it - "Scandal of Care Home"

Here is the sketch for the Sketch N Stash Challenge

and here is my card.

I have used my new First Edition papers which are absolutely gorgeous.

Thank you for looking.

Can it get worse??

Well I had a good wake up call this morning. My husband was just ready for work and was dozing back off to sleep. He opened the front door to go to his car and there was an empty space where my car should be.

I just cannot believe that someone has nicked my car - which was just under our bedroom window and we had the window wide open. I cannot believe that I never heard them. I usually jump out of bed at every little noise. The one thing that I think is strange is that the night before I heard a car pull up in the early hours of the morning and I jumped out of bed and there was a taxi parked across the road but I never saw anyone get out of it. I wonder if he was "casing the joint"

I am so disappointed because I don't want to have to buy a new car. Mine is a 20year old Vauxhall Calibra with about 50,000 miles on the clock. I would just love to get my hands on the "person" who took it.

Then I have been for my hair cutting (we have a Presentation Night on Friday and a Christening on Saturday) and when she showed me the back I thought "Oh no I look like a boy!"

I walked home wondering what is going to happen next. I got home and washed it and dried it myself and now it looks ok - more like my profile photo.

I have made a man's card using the LOTV Challenge sketch.

I hate making men's cards but I thought this wasn't too bad and I have kept it fairly simple because it will have to go through the post.

It looks like he has a pint of Guiness in his hand (that is what my husband used to drink but now he has gone on to the Real Ales)

The papers are from Pink Petticoat. Thank you for looking and have a good evening.

I think I might have a glass of port and a lay down!!! Only jesting!

Cupcake Challenge

First of all I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all you lovely ladies who have left comments for me recently. I am very sorry that I have been soooo busy that I just haven't had time to blog hop - but I promise I will get round to it soon.

I'm afraid it is another quick post today

Here is the card I have made to the Cupcake Challenge Sketch which is below.

I think on the photo the colouring of Tilda doesn't just look to match the card but it does actually match the Dark Green Bazzil that I have used.

The DP Papers are from the First Edition Spring Feast Paper Pad which I got from the Range.

Had a lovely meal last night but now I feel like 3 courses was far too much!!

Enjoy the weekend - hope the weather improves.

A bit of a different card

Hi

Just a very quick card as we are going out for a meal soon to celebrate my husband's nephew's 21st Birthday.

I just wanted to enter this card in the Basic Grey Challenge tomorrow. The challenge is Colour Combo - Hot Pink, Lime Green and Brown/Kraft.

I think the papers I have used are from the Sultry range but I am not too sure.

Here is the card

and it opens up like this.

I haven't put any writing on yet until I decide who I am going to send it to.

I really enjoyed making this card and it is something a bit different.

Thank you for looking and hope you all have a lovely weekend

Good News, Good News

Hi bloggers!
It seems ages since I did any blogging - the main reason being that it was my son's 40th birthday on the 15th June and I had been making a special surprise for him.

I gathered together loads of photos and got comments from some of his friends and school friends etc and I made a "This is your life" book. It took an awful lot of work but I was very pleased with it.

The "Good News" I refer to in the title is that I have been for my 6 month check up and everything was fine - thank goodness. I don't go again until December and then it is to Gynaecology Outpatients instead of the Macmillan Unit - so that is quite heartening.

Anyway I have at long last managed to make a card and I have used the sketch from the Pear Tree Designs Challenge.

and here is my card

I am also entering it in

Totally Papercrafts - which is to use Punches or Die Cuts

Stamp Something - which is to use Pretty Papers
and Just Magnolia - which is Paper Piecing.

I think I will be very busy this month making cards for July - I have so many birthday.
It is my Grand-daughter's on the 1st, then she is getting Christened on the 2nd.

I have a 60th on the 3rd and a birthday on the 5th, 6th, 15th and 21st.

I think perhaps I had better crack on now!!!

Enjoy your evening

Something Fruity

Hi there

I hope you have all had a good weekend.

I have not had much time for cardmaking because I am making something special for my Son's 40th Birthday - I can't tell you what yet in case he happens to look at my blog (although I doubt if he will!!)

It is taking up so much of my time because I have had to spend a lot of time looking for photos and scanning them etc.

Anyway I did manage to get round to making a card for the Totally Paper Crafts Challenge - which is "Get Fruity". Now I actually have some cherries in the garden which won't be long before they are ready for picking. But I haven't chosen cherries - I have used my new Magnolia stamp which has strawberries on it - my little Florence loves strawberries.

The paper is Nitwits and the flowers Wild Orchid Crafts.

Thank you for looking

Warren Bunny

What a beautiful day it has been today both weatherwise and because I have seen my eldestgrand-daughter today as well.

We had a lovely day and we went to see my niece and her two boys, who are so adorable. My sister and her husband were there too.

I have made a card for the Sketch Saturday Challenge but I have been so busy on Wednesday and Thursday blitzing my craft room that I just never got round to posting it until today - late as ever!!

Here is the sketch

and here is my card.

Unfortunately I can't say that it is one of my favourites.

The papers are from my new First Edition pad which I got from The Range.

The bunny is from Craftwork Cards and the flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.

We are going to have a very busy time this month with one thing and another.

We have our rugby presentation night, THE DOME, a weekend at Scarborough for my son's 40th birthday and a meal out for my husband's nephew's 21st birthday - among other bits of things.

Hope you all have a brilliant weekend with lots more sunshine.

Whoops!!

Looks like this time I was too late for the Challenge

Never mind - I never learn do I??

Fussy & Fancy

Just a very quick post I'm afraid today.
I made this card for one of my husband's customers but unfortunately he took the card before I got chance to get a good photo of it. There is a shadow on it because it was taken at night in my room.

It was actually an easel card but I did not photograph the inside.

I thought I would enter it in tomorrow's Penny Black Challenge.

I am off to see my youngest grand-daughter tomorrow so I am looking forward to that - and hopefully I will see both my grand-daughters.

thank you for looking.

Same old Story.......

A very late "Good Evening" - or perhaps I should say "Goodnight"

It's the same old story - always late for a challenge!!

I decided to do the Stamp Something Challenge which was a Beachy theme and I actually found this paper with shells and footprints on so I thought that would be brilliant.

Then I found the kind of sea green paper - ideal.

So I put them together and here is the card.

Unfortunately I was so late finishing it that I have had to take the photo in my room in artificial light so it is not brilliant - but then what's new??

I have used the sketch from the Sketch Saturday Challenge

which was actually quite a nice one to do.

My son has gone to Blackpool tonight and is then flying off to Costa del Sol tomorrow with our rugby lads - volcanic ash permitting!

My husband is on the poker at the moment but I think I have had enough crafting now for tonight - I think I will go in the room and play on my Nintendo DS before beddie byes.

Thank you for all your lovely comments and, of course, for looking.

4 in 1

Hi
Well at least today has been quite a nice day.

We went to the Craft show at Aintree on Sunday and on the motorway there were weather warnings for severe winds on the Monday. Then on the news on Monday a wagon had blown over at Scammonden.

My daughter was going to come up yesterday but did not want to risk it with the wind and there being so many wagons on the A1.

Well I have a card for you which I am entering in (can you guess from the title???) four challenges.

I have used this sketch from Just Magnolia Challenge.

The Papertake Challenge was Pale, Pretty Pastels

The Ribbon Girl challenge was Pinks and Lilacs

and the Creative Card Crew challenge was Anything Goes

So here is my card.

At Aintree I bought some more Decopatch papers and covered some letters for my two granddaughter's room - I will take a photo of them to show you another day. One spells FLO and the other MERI.

I find it very relaxing to do - except when my husband constantly says "just look at this" or "have you seen this" when he is watching the tele and I am watching what I am doing!! Lol!

Thank you for looking - have a good evening.
