My husband and I had a lovely meal out last night to celebrate his birthday and we actually had a pudding which I don't usually have because I am trying to lose some weight. I think it is only about the second time we have been out together on our own in over a year.

Well as I promised yesterday, here is the first birthday card I made for my husband David.


I really quite liked it and it was very quick and easy to make. The stickers are from 7 gypsies and the Happy Birthday sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.
I wasn't sure whether David would like it or not so I made another one - which is the Forever Friends one below. He actually liked them both but thought the first one was better for a man.

I am feeling really stressed out at the moment although I did have a LOVELY DAY with my sister, Kath, at Harrogate on Sunday at The Great Northern Papercrafts Extravaganza. I was really looking forward to going there and wasn't disappointed.
It is organised by Sue & Richard of Craftwork Cards and, as usual, the delightful Julie Hickey was demonstrating there. They are all lovely people and very talented as well. Very nice to see them again.
As usual I came back with all sorts of things that I can't wait to play with when I get the chance.

One of the stalls I really like is Lavinia Stamps. I don't know the name of the lady there but she does such absolutely beautiful cards/pictures. I have bought lots of stamps and ink pads from her over the years but I have never managed to master the art of using the brayer but this year she showed me where I was going wrong so I will be having another go.

Yesterday and today I have been concentrating on my embroidering but some of it has not been successful so I am a bit disappointed.

Today is my husband's birthday but I will try to post a picture of his card tomorrow as we are dining out when he gets back from work - I am really looking forward to that. Have to dash and get ready.

It seems to have been a really busy week this week - I dont know why because I dont seem to have accomplished much.
I have had a go at a couple of cards that my friend Jenny has on her blog and they have turned out really good. They are the ones using the sage card stock.

It is my husband's birthday next Tuesday and I have made a card for him - I hope he likes it but his taste in cards is different from mine so I am not so sure.
I will post it on my blog after his birthday.

First of all I would like to thank everyone who has left such lovely comments on my blog - I really appreciate it.

Today was the start of our rugby season - it was not a good start we lost at home to Hoyland Vikings.

I have spent the evening updating our website - Hipperholme Warriors - there is a link on the right of my blog but I did nip out for an hour or so to a neighbour's house - she was having a party for her daughter who is going to University in London in about a weeks time.

I made this little gift card for her. It is the same idea as the one I made for Katie (incidentally the girl going to University is called Katie as well) but just a different design on the front. The red strip of card is a belly band.

Before I started making cards I nearly always bought Andrew Brownsword cards so when I went to The Range and saw that they had some rubber stamps with the Forever Friends bear on them I just had to buy a Christmas set of them.

I had seen a lovely little card on Andrea Brownjohn's website under the heading "Cute Card Thursday 'Things That Grow' Challenge" and I thought my new stamp set would be ideal for trying out this card.

Here is my version.

What a week I have had - and it is only Wednesday!!!

On Monday I decided to get my embroidery machine out to have a go at embroidering the rugby club badge on some t.shirts.

First of all I had to drag it out from behind some boxes that are stashed underneath my desk and then I could not find the foot pedal, the plug and the lead that connects the machine to my computer. I started looking for these about 4pm and I broke off to have my tea, which my son Richard had made because I was in such a mood because I couldn't find them, and then continued looking. My husband helped me later and we emptied drawers and cupboards in every room, looked twice in the loft and just could not find it anywhere.

About 10.30pm I was having another look under my desk when my husband asked if there was a lid to the machine. I said there was and I had already looked but couldnt find anything in it. I said he could have a look if he wanted and he did. And guess what? He found it. There is a storage area which I had totally forgotten about ( I havent used the machine for over a year) and everything was in there. I just could not believe it.

Tuesday I spent the majority of the day trying to embroider the badge and after about 3 attempts I think it is not too bad. I will now have the task of embroidering about 50 T.Shirts free of charge!! My husband gets me some really good little jobs!! If I was to get paid by the hour the club would be bankrupt.

I have however found time to make a card for the Mojo Monday challenge - the sketch is shown below:-

I have used Making Memories Kids Collection Papers - Max and Stampin Up Pumpkin pie
The stamp is, of course, Penny Black. Penny Black was always my favourite stamp company but I must admit that I really do like the Stampin Up stamps. The ribbon is from Stampin Up as well.

On Tuesday it will be my step-daughter's birthday (Katie) and below is the card I made for her.

I used a stamp by My Favourite Things which I got from Sir Stampalot - they have such a good choice of stamps. The paper is from Making Memories and the round sentiments is from Craftwork Cards.

I also made a little gift wallet to put some money in, I am sorry the photos are not very good. The wallet is kept closed by putting a belly band round it and attaching the photo to the belly band.

The stamp is from Penny Black and the card from Stampin Up

I have seen a couple of tutorials for this type of card but when I wanted to make it I couldn't remember where I had seen them.

This one is from Dawns Stamping Thoughts. She does some really brilliant things.

Well it is Sunday evening and I am shattered after quite a busy weekend doing nothing much.

On Saturday we had a run down to The Craft Box at Elsecar Heritage Centre, Hoyland - they have some lovely goodies there - and on Sunday afternoon we went to Oswaldtwistle Mills.

About 18 months or more ago I bought an embroidery machine and had just about got used to using it when I was taken ill and I have never got round to using it since. My husband runs a local amateur rugby team, Hipperholme Warriors, and he had some polo neck t.shirts donated. He decided that I could embroider the team badge on it. He thinks it just takes a few seconds to do it but I have to get the design digitised and figure out the machine again. That is why we went to Oswaltwistle to Lords Sewing to get some thread etc for these badges. Whilst we were there we also went to Dawn Bibby's new shop - which is really nice. Well I say new, it is the first time I have been there, I dont know how long it has been open.

Anyway below is Mojo Monday sketch for week 50 (I always seem to be a week behind)
